"The Situation" Dismal for 'Jersey Shore' as Dell Pulls Ads

We're sure that all of you by now have at least heard of 'The Jersey Shore,' and that a few of the more masochistic among you have probably even watched the show. The latest piece of trashy reality TV from the now misleadingly named Music Television (MTV), has offended everyone from Italian Americans, to year-round residents of Seaside Heights, to the non-orange-skinned natives of Staten Island. Understandably, advertisers have been rushing to distance themselves from the program -- leaving more slots for 6-Minute Abs and Muscle Milk spots.
Now, following the example of Domino's and American Family Insurance, Dell has pulled all advertisements from the show, and in a statement accused the show's creators of "ethnic bashing." Then again, limiting criticism of the show to how it portrays Italians seems a little narrow-minded. These eight idiots are an affront to the entire human race (as shown in the video below), and a source of consternation for one particular Switched staffer who calls the slums (okay, maybe not the slums) of Shaolin home.
If there is any justice in this world, Dell will be just another name in a long list of companies choosing to spend their advertising dollars elsewhere. Besides, we already have the animated GIF of oompa loompa look-alike Snooki getting clocked by a muscle-bound, fist-pumping goon -- and we know (or certainly hope) the show will never be able to beat that.
