We're guessing a handful of DVDs and Blu-rays make it in the stockings and under the trees of most families these days. Unless you're shopping for a film buff who simply has to own the films they love, you could do them one better and even save some cash.

Netflix Subscription, from $9/month
Call our love of Netflix a form of irrational exuberance, but there's really no beating it. For $9 a month, or less than the cost of a movie ticket (or DVD), you can get unlimited streaming to a PC (which you can easily hook up to your TV) or Netflix-ready device, and get DVDs and Blu-ray discs delivered to your home with no shipping costs. If you watch a movie a month, it essentially pays for itself. Get us started with a 6-month subscription and we'll be sure Santa knows you've been extremely nice.
