Cherrypal's $99 'Africa' Laptop Advertised as 'Small, Slow, Sufficient'
With Christmas fast approaching, we recently compiled a list of 70 Geeky Gifts Under $70, and unbelievably, we recently found a laptop that narrowly missed the cut. According to Techland, Cherrypal has released what might be the cheapest laptop on the planet. The 7-inch Cherrypal Africa costs a very frugal $99.But be aware, you're not getting the biggest, fastest, or most efficient machine here. On Cherrypal's site, the laptop is billed as "small, slow, sufficient." The "Africa" boasts 256 MB RAM, 2 GB flash memory, runs on Linux or Windows CE, and is powered by a 400 MHz processor.
Don't turn up those noses, tech snobs. This machine isn't for you. Even with Internet access increasing in the U.S., there are still many people across the globe -- and the country -- who can't afford a computer. This mini-laptop could have a large part in making the world a little more connected. [From: Techland and Cherrypal]

Does it run applications to play games via the internet, such as PBSKIDS.com, Barbie.com, Sprout online...... and online games like that for my kids? I want to get them laptops, and this seems to be it, but not all things that connect to the internet can play the applications that run the games.. such as the Wii from nintendo.. I can get on PBSKIDS.... but I cannot get the games to play on the system, as it does not support the application.
