Archaeological Ruins of Ancient 'Friendster' Network Discovered

Friendster's Archaeological Ruins Discovered
Sometimes 'The Onion' hits the satirical nail so square on the head it transcends simple humor (like this post 9/11 classic) and becomes a reflection of the current state of the world. It's recent video "news" clip, 'Internet Archaeologists Find Ruins Of 'Friendster' Civilization,' works not just because Friendster is an easy punchline -- but because it speaks volumes about how future generations might learn about our culture.

While past civilizations left behind shards of pottery, paintings, and texts, late 20th and 21st century cultures exist primarily in an electronic world. Our "ruins" will, in fact, be Web sites, and mildly embarrassing postings on personal profiles.

We won't bother explaining the jokes, or trying to be funny -- the Onion is much better at that. We'll just encourage you to watch the video below. [From: The Onion, via: Huffington Post]
