Rocker Lou Reed Designs iPhone App For the Nearsighted
Oh time. You are a cruel mistress. Just look at what you've done to one of the most influential rock stars of our time, Lou Reed. The man who penned depraved couplets like, "She's out on the streets again, She's down on her knees, my friend," and "'Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man, when I put a spike into my vein," is now designing iPhone apps -- for the nearsighted.'Lou Zoom' is an iPhone app that replaces the standard contact program with large print names and phone numbers "dramatically set in Helvetica Neue type." You can browse your contact list by scrolling or searching, though in a slight improvement over the built-in app, 'Lou Zoom' will allow you to type any part of a contact's name, not just the starting letters of the first or last. In order to make room for the "huge and legible" text 'Lou Zoom' only shows one phone number or address at a time. Swiping left or right brings alternate info up, but leaves the contact name at the top.
All this from a guy who once thought so little of his fans that he released a double album composed entirely of feedback. [From: Wired]
