Foul-Mouthed Tweets Aren't Welcome on New Zune HD Twitter App

We were pretty peeved when Twitter allegedly took down several obscene trending topics this past June, and Apple rejected Tweetie 1.3 back in May for letting users view foul language in topic searches, but the latest example of Twitter censorship may just be the most brazen instance yet.

Thanks to Microsoft, Zune HD users who download the Twitter app, available today, will not only find the app full of annoying bugs, but to add insult to injury, obscenities in tweets will also be censored. Case in point: dropping the F-bomb automatically gets changed to "f***" when published.

Already users and the media are up in arms over the modification -- who is Microsoft protecting, kids or themselves? -- though it remains to be seen whether the issue will be addressed in future updates. Until then, those of you hoping to exercise your First Amendment rights to foul up the old Merriam-Webster should tweet elsewhere. [From: Engadget, readwriteweb, and CrunchGear]
