Something Unpredictable: Green Day Does 'Rock Band'

Video games were beneath Led Zeppelin and the White Stripes. But it didn't require anyone "Pulling Teeth" for Green Day to jump on board.

USA Today reports that game developer Harmonix is working with the group on 'Green Day: Rock Band,' for the Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Alex Rigopolus, CEO of Harmonix, claims that the game "will deepen the fans' connection to the band and their history." No word yet on which songs the game will feature, but users will apparently be able to export all tracks from the Green Day game into either 'Rock Band' or 'Rock Band 2,' something incompatible with the much hyped 'Beatles: Rock Band' game.

No offense to the band, but we wouldn't necessarily have guessed that Green Day would be the next supergroup to merit their own 'Rock Band' game. Sure, they've enjoyed a longevity rarely seen among most acts nowadays, and Harmonix is probably marketing to a younger gaming generation that grew up on 'American Idiot",' not 'Dookie.' We're just not ready to mention Billie Joe in the same breath as Paul or John, that's all.

That being said, if "Longview" makes its way on to the game, we'll definitely be rockin' out to it. That song's our favorite. [From: USA Today]
