IMDB iPhone App Makes it Easier Than Ever to Cheat at Trivia

Sometimes, figuring out the name of a familiar face in a movie can't wait until you've parked yourself at a computer. Or maybe you and a few buddies need to settle a bet over some Megan Fox-related trivia in a pinch. (Uh, don't we all?) Luckily, IMDB has finally gone all mobile on us with the launch of an iPhone app earlier this week that handily beats other movie apps like Now Playing and the ad-laden Flixster, which focus solely on theater showtimes.

The IMDB app keeps the features people rely on the site for -- access to the database's 1.5 million-plus movie and TV titles, 3.2 million celebrity filmographies, trailers, photos, quotes, and other useful factoids -- but significantly simplifies the interface for iPhone users, so that ultimately, it's actually quicker to find what you need on your phone than say, checking out the sometimes confusing Web site.

Three main areas make navigation easy, if not exactly exciting. "Movies" displays showtimes at nearby theaters, US Box Office results, and a MOVIEmeter that tracks how many visitors have viewed a movie or celeb's page, while "TV" has a viewing schedule of major network shows along with recaps of shows aired the week before. Under "People," users will find the top 25 most-searched stars on IMDB and a pretty-self explanatory section showing which stars were "Born Today."

So movie and TV buffs: rest a little easier knowing IMDB is just a few taps and swipes away. We certainly will. [From: TUAW and IMDB]
