'Dude Where's My Network' and Other Silly Wi-Fi Network Names

We're constantly looking to reach out and communicate with people. Here in 2009, we have countless ways to do so (e-mail, Twitter, texting, Facebook, LinkedIn...), but for some that just isn't enough. They've got to take something as mundane as a Wi-Fi network name and turn it into a message for anyone close enough to stumble upon it. Most people will just stick with the default, "Linksys," or go the "Smith Family WiFi," route. But a few more creative individuals use the incredibly limited space (32 characters max) to taunt neighbors, repulse snoops, and chastise freeloaders.

Humor Web site Holy Taco (which previously brought you Santa's Gmail and Palin's Facebook) has collected a list of '25 Hilarious WiFi Network Names.'

Predictably, more than half of the entries selected by the decidedly juvenile site make some reference to genitalia or sex, with most of the rest being (slightly) more creative ones that chastise those looking to score free Internet. Our favorites are the less predictable, and slightly odd, "Space Age Bachelor Pad," "YerBabyIsRealyUgly," and "We Can Hear You Having Sex." But you can check out the rest of the list, which contains its fair share of profanity, at the "source" link below.

If your craving for joke Wi-Fi network names isn't satiated with Holy Taco's list (which is largely culled from a year-old post on Oddee) you can check out this (much better) list, featuring gems like "404NotFound" and "Party at apartment 219," at TJSHome. We asked the Twittersphere, and Cam Neil responded with "timspieceofsh*twireless." [From: Holy Taco]
