Groom Whips Out Phone at Altar to Switch Facebook Relationship Status

Take this couple in the video posted after the break, which we found on Mashable. The groom, Dana Hanna, is dressed in his crisp, black tuxedo. The bride, whose name we don't know, is glowing in her white dress. Looks like a normal wedding ceremony, right? Well, it was, until Hanna pulled out his phone and changed his relationship status on Facebook to 'married' right there at the altar. Quick on her feet, the bride follows suit, and the crowd gets a good laugh out of it. But it's the preacher who delivers the punchline. "If it's official on Facebook, it's official in my book," he says.
While this stunt went over well this time, we wouldn't recommend everybody try it. It takes a special person to find this funny and play along, too. Hanna is a lucky man to have her. [From: Mashable]

I'm with you. What a jerk!!! He thinks he is being funny and cool, NOT!!!!

Seriously? I think facebook can wait a few minutes until your ceremony is over. My boyfriend wouldn't do that, but if he did I'd smack him. Another pathetic example of how cyber life is suddenly all that more important than REAL life.

Really? I see nothing wrong with it since THE BRIDE DID THE SAME THING! Ever consider that they might have had that planned? Sounds like they have a good sense of humor toward each other. They were ANNOUNCING THEIR WEDDING TO THE FACEBOOK CROWD! That's a GOOD thing but YOU as a 14 year old still have a few years before you will understand that.
Do you know what a REAL "looser" is? a "looser" is someone who has no comprehension in READING and horrible spelling. Just so that you know for future reference, YOU SPELLED "LOOSER" WRONG! The correct spelling is LOSER! And BEFORE you comment on something you are too young to know ANYTHING about, read and reread the articles you are commenting on then TRY to understand what you've read. Then and only then should you comment.
THIS IS WHAT THE ARTICLE SAID: Hanna pulled out his phone and changed his relationship status on Facebook to 'married' right there at the altar. Quick on her feet, the bride follows suit.

I think some of you people need to unclench your ass cheeks a bit... are you all so stupid as to believe the bride didn't know what was going to happen? It's a joke, people, what the hell is wrong with you?
BabygirlDec 3rd 2009 11:41AM
Evidently he wasn't #1 in her book either since she did the same on her phone.
michaelDec 3rd 2009 2:23PM
Who is more of a loser........Him for having a sense of humor, or you for not knowing how to spell loser?
Kathy HandysideDec 2nd 2009 8:55PM
That should serve as a big warning to the bride of just how important she will be in this marriage. The fact that he had to call someone on his cell phone to tell them what's going on tells me he has a big ego with a pathetic need to show off. It was rude, it was thoughtless, it was childish, and I wouldn't marry the guy for all the money in the world.
AndiDec 3rd 2009 6:23AM
THEY PLANNED IT! Damn people...read the article. He didn't even technically CALL anyone! Did you even watch the video or did you just open up the article and head straight for the comment section?
TamiDec 3rd 2009 11:23AM
Ahhh, here we have yet ANOTHER intellectual ( KATHY HANDYSIDE ) with great reading comprehension skills! NOT!
HAVE THE MAJORITY OF YOU MOOKS EVEN READ THIS ARTICLE? IF SO, I FEEL BAD FOR YOU BECAUSE APPARENTLY THEY DIDN'T TEACH READING IN YOUR SCHOOLS.
TamiDec 3rd 2009 11:23AM
KATHY HANDYSIDE: What should be a warning is that people should stay away from whatever area you live in because they obviously don't teach reading in your educational system. Reading is one thing, understanding what you've read is another and apparently doing both at the same time confused your one little lonely brain cell.
BabygirlDec 3rd 2009 11:49AM
Did you not read the story or watch the video? He did not make a call he changed his Facebook account to reflect that he is no longer single (and she did the same).
This is sometime that looks like they both agreed to do this at the moment they were husband and wife.
This is no different than the couple and the entire wedding party that danced down the aisle to the alter.
Loosen up folks, it was their wedding to do whatever they chose. The minister had no problem with it and neither should you.
Loosen your butt-cheeks and get some air.

as a matter of fact i wouldnt have kissed him either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BabygirlDec 3rd 2009 11:53AM
Well, I guess they should have slapped each other since she did the same thing. Before you make a comment read the entire article, as well as, watch the video.
Just pay attention to what you read and see.
John TroutDec 2nd 2009 8:48PM
People, really. Have a sense of humor. They were obviously all in on the joke. If everyone at the wedding took it for a lark, I will not presume to judge them, although I probably wouldn't have done it. Lighten up!
the lil oneDec 2nd 2009 10:10PM
Thank you.
People can be so ridiculous....
IT WAS A JOKE!
get over it...
MaiMaiDec 2nd 2009 11:25PM
Lol i know seriously. They were clearly in on the joke. He had her cell phone too. That's just something they planned together not like he really puts Facebook first. Honestly some people commenting on here are so funny. You and your boyfriend/husband have your thing that you do and they have theirs. Like my boyfriend and I are all about the NBA. Congrats on the wedding!

Hi John,
I agree, and just reading the article it said she laughed, the people laughed, it went over well and furthermore, as i stated before, in a relationship (widow now after 20 yrs of marriage) laughter, goes hand in hand with trust and respect. People just need to stop being SO uptight, and be so readily to presume wrong or distaste or catagorize. Maybe you and I might not of done something like this but if THEY didnt mind, then why should we?
Nice post John.
