Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Unveils Child-Tracking Devices

USA Today reports that the new Oasis of the Seas ship, which sails under the Royal Caribbean flag, will soon be inserting electronic tracking devices in wristbands that all children will be required to wear on-board. The devices will allow parents to know where their bundles of joy are at all times, and are being introduced in conjunction with new Royal Caribbean smartphones, which will allow passengers to communicate with each other and staff.
Both devices will only be available on the Oasis, since they require a wireless network that older ships do not have. And, as there's no age-limit to who can rent a phone, not only can you keep track of your kid, but you can also call to catch him in his lie about being at the daiquiri bar! It probably is a good idea to institute some sort of device to keep track of the kids. (And wayward Aunt Millie?) We just hope they're waterproof, too. [From: USA Today]

GPS is not going to work below the layers of metal decks. If you can see the sun GPS would work, but below deck it's worthless.
