Michael Jackson, 'Twilight,' and Wrestling Top Searches for 2009

This time of year, there's not much better than a good year-end list. A list is one of our last chances to reminisce about the year that was before turning our attention to the year that will be and all its promises.

In the year-end spirit, Yahoo! released its list of "2009's Most Popular Searches" today on the CBS Early Show. Number one, to no one's surprise, is Michael Jackson. His shocking death, the funeral that seemingly would never end, and all the fallout concerning drugs and such kept people glued to their computers for the latest news about the King of Pop, making him the hottest search topic of 2009. The same held true for Google's search results, too. Jackson was the site's fastest rising search this year. Close behind him were those lovable vamps as 'Twilight' checked in at number two (never underestimate the power of preteen girls with computers). Rounding out the top five were World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Megan Fox, and Britney Spears. We'd imagine the same people searched all three of those topics.

As it winds down, 2009 looks like it'll go down as the year of vampires and a dead pop star that looked like a vampire. Hey, there's always next year. [From: CBS News and Google Blog]
