NBA Star Says He Won't Tweet Till He Has 1 Million Followers

While neither Gilbert Arenas nor his team, the Washington Wizards, are setting records on the basketball court, the NBA star might gain notoriety in the Twitterverse. According to The Washington Post, Arenas says he won't write his first tweet until he gets one million followers on his Twitter account. If this happens, Arenas would have more followers than any other inactive person on Twitter.

If you ask us, this stunt just sounds like a cry for attention, but apparently it's working. Despite having a blank page, Arenas had nearly 5,800 followers as of Wednesday afternoon. Being a delusional, multimillionaire athlete, Arenas doesn't even find this odd. According to the Associated Press, he really doesn't even have a good reason for his actions, other than being contradictory. When somebody told Arenas that tweets usually come before followers, he simply responded, "I'm trying to do the opposite."

Looks like he plays with a bunch of other delusional athletes, too. Teammate Mike Miller believes Arenas will reach his goal, which, The Washington Post estimates, will take about two-and-a-half years at the current rate. "Impossible is nothing," Miller said. DeShawn Stevenson agrees. "He's gonna get it," he said. "He's Gilbert Arenas. He's gonna get it." We'll keep you posted if the story ever unfolds. [From: The Washington Post and AP/Yahoo! Sports]
