Being forced to use moronic terms like "paradigm," "outside-the-box," and "proactive" can be depressing for corporate employees. But suffering through humiliating and
soul-crushing corporate rituals can be even more debilitating to one's sense of individuality and autonomy.
While
reeducation camps corporate retreats and orchestrated events are popular among big businesses, very few companies attract as much publicity as Microsoft does for
its ridiculous and embarrassing stunts. Apparently hell-bent on eradicating the sense of self-worth in its employees, Microsoft recently forced workers at the inaugural Microsoft Store in California to perform
a (somewhat) synchronized electric slide dance routine (video after the break). The incredibly uncomfortable display, which features a heavy dose of overweight white dudes (and awkwardly faded jeans), doesn't appear spontaneous at all and lasts for an intensely painful four minutes and 44 seconds.
Microsoft's constant media presence definitely makes it an easy target, but its ridiculous ads, like
the infamous vomit spot, and other quirky shenanigans only exacerbate
the company's lame public image. If there's an organization that
fails harder than Microsoft in its attempts to be trendy, creative, and cool, we'd like to hear about it. [From:

if you look closely, there is a lady shoplifting in the far right for a few seconds into the video.

To be fair, it was only 4:37 of intensely painful...the last seven seconds were feelings of intense relief--that it was over!

Hey, its all in fun and being silly is a good thing.
It sure beats the critical sarcastic spin the writer put on this article.

Microsoft should stick to being badass know-all nerd gods.

I have to agree with a person who had a comment on page 1. Skivy said it is very irritating to go to a restaurant, especially like Texas Road House, which is 1/2 mile from us, so we go there a lot, but we always do take-out. I don't think I could sit through another round of mostly very young wait stafff, practically being forced to line dance all through the restaurant. Does anyone wonder why Texas Road House only has 18, 19 and 20 yo's working for them? I'll tell ya why. I don't think there is anyone over 21, with somewhat of an education who would stoop so low as to make line dancing part of your job description! That would be the most pathetic thing and yes, I would quit my job, no matter what, the day an employer "told" me to dance for the corporation. Yeah, well fu^ck you too Bill

Want to perk your employees up? Give 'em a raise or bonus. This dancing crap is just idiotic.
EileenNov 28th 2009 2:01PM
No, this can't be for real. It has to be some elaborate hoax.
marivientoNov 28th 2009 2:15PM
Just because you're gay doesn't mean that you can dance.....I thought everyone looked as if they were having fun....sometimes the world is just too critical.

To get back at these advertisers, I go to their websites, get their contact us address, and send them a barrage of phony emails from different email addresses. I also call their 800 numbers and waste as much of their time as possible, and disparage their own site if they have a blog or comment section of their own. If everyone did this, I’d bet they would stop! AOL has obviously lost control!

I swear.....people are getting SO jaded and critical these days, even when it doesn't involve politics. I thought the dancing was cute and fun, didn't look to me like they were being forced into somehow performing for the company. Nothing like doing something healthy, to get fit and maybe lose a couple of lbs., drawing some extra people in to buy w/o putting on a corn-ball tiresome ad etc. Quit being so critical for once and try to relax and say good job for those who chose to enter in. Looked to me like they were enjoying the break....better than a cig. or drug break!!!
SuzyNov 28th 2009 2:57PM
No way would I ever do some lame friggin line dance for a bunch of strangers and having my boss watch on in the background. Yeah, I'd MUCH rather have a cigarette or even possibly a drug break! It definitely would beat the line dancing any day!!

I thought the Microsoft employees doing the electric slide was good. They looked like they were having a lot of fun. Anytime you get a chance to do the "Electric Slide", do it!!!
