HSN Salesman Breaks TV With Wiimote: Real or Fake?
| Yes | |
|---|---|
| No | |
| I'm not sure. |
When a man helplessly calls for his 'mama' after shattering his flat screen, it's oddly sad. But when a Home Shopping Network host launches a Wii Tennis racket at the screen (jump to 5:05 in the above video), cracks the TV, and continues to plow right through his pitch without missing a beat (with no help from his hysterical co-worker), we laugh at him, and then with him. Hey, he didn't break a sweat, and the savvy production team flawlessly cut to a different shot instead of letting the poor guy suffer. It's almost too good to be true, but we agree with Gizmodo here. A very real screwup that fortunately (for us) was caught on live TV. However, if anyone is going to buy into a bunch of plastic, poorly affixed sports accessories, then it serves them right. Weirdest Techie Heists and Scams
Elderly Amish Man Caught on Film With Prostitute, Blackmailed
When a 75-year-old Amish widower slept with a prostitute, he -- we feel certain -- felt pretty bad about it the next morning. As if that guilt weren't enough for the old man, the prostitute and her boyfriend demanded $67,000 from him, claiming that they had filmed the scene with wall-mounted cameras and would upload the recording to the Internet. The pair was later arrested and, we can only imagine, the Amish man abhorred technology more than ever.
Bank Robber Gets Away With the Help of Craiglist
In October, a bank robber -- wearing a safety vest, blue shirt, face mask and goggles -- eluded police with the help of Craiglist. Just outside the bank, while the robbery was in progress, stood a group of men who were responding to a Craiglist day labor opportunity. As the advertisement required, they were all wearing safety vests, blue shirts, face masks and goggles.
Nude New Zealander Arrested After Responding to Fake Sexy Text Message
Late in 2007, a Wellington, New Zealand man received a racy text message from two anonymous "ladies," giving him only an address and a request that he show up naked. Well, he indeed showed up naked... at the home of one appalled, unsuspecting New Zealander. Both the nude Romeo and the sadistic texter were arrested, though neither were prosecuted.
Fake Craiglist Ad Costs Man Most of What He Owns
Last Spring, a post appeared on an Oregon Craigslist board stating that the owner of a specific house was leaving all of his worldly possessions (still in said house) to whoever wanted them. When homeowner Robert Salisbury rushed home -- on a tip from a woman suspicious about the offer of a free horse -- he found his house being ransacked by 30 strangers. We suggest he take that horse and collect some vengeance Clint Eastwood-style.
17-Year-Old Jailed for Stealing Virtual 'Furniture'
When a 17-year-old Dutch boy hacked into several accounts on the Second Life-style site 'Habbo' in 2007, the the law got involved. The boy was discovered to have stolen $5,800 worth of virtual furniture and knick-knacks. Apparently, crime -- whether actual or virtual -- does not pay.
Phishers Going After Your Phones in New 'Vishing' Trend
Over the past year, sneaky spammers have begun to forsake the worn-out territory of e-mail in favor of cell phones' fertile frontier. The result? "Vishing." Get it? Voice mail + phishing. It might be more ominous if it didn't sound like a James Bond villain saying, "Wishing."
Burglars Break Into Restaurant, Steal HDTV, Leave Money / Food Behind
Around Halloween of last year, a truckload of thieves drove into -- that's right, into -- a Pennsylvania Mexican restaurant, where they -- apparently uninterested in the cash register -- stole a mid-grade 47-inch HDTV and fled the scene. We've all heard about how this generation is lacking in ambition, but this generation's thieves, too?

The female host is an idiot. She exaggerates through her teeth in most of her presentations as do most of the HSN hosts.
Some of them just plain lie.
ShopNBC miss represents extensively on diamond quality and value, for their overpriced merchandise. I believe they have paid fines for it in the past.
ShopNBC hosts have called I2 and I3 diamonds "boutique quality". DO a google search on I included diamonds...Junk.
0 credibility.

Back In The Day A Tube Tv's Could Take a Hit
Nowadays, These New Tv's Are S**t!
it is realOct 20th 2009 7:03PM
Why would they fake something like that.......THEY ARE TRYING TO SELL THE ITEM
JasonOct 20th 2009 7:31PM
I think that what's funnier is that the Wii w/Wii Sports costs $199.99 and the 15 in 1 sports attachments cost $9.95. So they want grandparents(who don't know what prices are) to pay $329.90+$9.95 shipping($338.95) for a system that costs under $210.00. Way to rip off your customers HSN!
Slick

Well, we can think of this in three ways....
One: He showed us that it CAN break T.Vs and told you how to do it, and that he was a martyr to make sure you attach the attachments correctly.
Two: Hes an idiot...
Three: He just showed that his product is broken, even when showing it off on live T.V

Wii's are pathetic!! If your looking for a game system to buy.... read my comment!!
You need to get a XBOX 360!! Get Halo3 and Halo3 ODST. NEVER GET ANYTHING ELSE!!! If you get a 360 you NEED to have LIVE or the XBOX 360 is pathetic. So yah.... its worth the money! NEVER GET A Wii when you have a chance to get a 360. GET LIVE TOO OR YOU FAIL EPICLLY!!
cubroncs03Oct 20th 2009 7:55PM
Why does anyone think this is fake? That's just stupid. This is a service advertising a product; why the hell would they intentionally showcase one of the biggest drawbacks/harms/etc., of it? Stupid ass question
Steve WardOct 26th 2009 1:06AM
Wow...... if you look at the TV while he is trying to explain swinging the bat you still can see that blue mark or blue streak caused when the racket hit the flat screen. Looks like that racket did actual damage to the flat screen. So now the $300.00 or more Wii game console has now damaged your $1000 TV. Hmm...... do I want to get this for Christmas or a Christmas gift????
belzingastOct 21st 2009 1:09PM
This HSN offer is such a rip off. All current retailers sell the Wii for $200. So you're essentailly paying $129 for cheap plastic accessories you can easily get for $30 for all of them at a Gamestop or Mom and Pop Gamestore.
RevyOct 25th 2009 6:43PM
What some people here fail to get is that the cause was not the Wiimote. The cheap and necessary racket attachment flew of the Wiimote.
These kind of accessories are not approved by Nintendo and are very low quality.
ryanOct 26th 2009 4:48AM
seriously? everyone saying watch close, take your own medicine. 5:075 his arm isn't even down to the table yet and it's already bounced off the screen. If slipped off, just like he said it did.
jimfamahJan 12th 2010 9:07PM
I think it is real. I just broke my 46" Sony when the tennis racket accessory came loose and flew into the screen. Part to replace is $1500. I can buy a new tv for a lot less.
