Facebook Overtakes MySpace, 'Project Runway' Coming to Wii

Highlights from this morning's other big tech headlines....
  • It may seem like an eternity, but just one year ago, MySpace still owned the social networking scene, attracting 66.8-percent of the traffic to such sites. In a dramatic reversal, Facebook now draws 58.6-percent of those visits, a 194-percent increase from last year. MySpace still ranks second in terms of traffic, but with Twitter's astronomical increase of 1,170-percent, the MySpace slide looks to continue. [From: eWEEK]
  • The hit show 'Project Runway' is apparently making the transition to Wii. With a dearth of games that incorporate strong female leads, 'Runway' should be a welcome addition to the marketplace. Just please, please, keep Tyra Banks and 'Next Top Model' out of our consoles.
  • 'Paranormal Activity,' a horror movie created with a budget of only $10,000, was initially released to 13 college towns, but is now set to go nationwide due to overwhelming Web demand. Maybe someone can adopt the opposite approach in order to keep movies like 'All About Steve' and 'Transformers 2' out of the theater. [From: The New York Times]
  • The Facebook "maintenance" issues that have been locking people out of their accounts for the past week remain unresolved, resulting in an online uproar. Maybe, just maybe, this will actually inspire some of the more devoted members to talk to their friends and family in person. [From: CNET]
  • Twitter founder Biz Stone recently dispelled reports that the site was going to incorporate video hosting, saying, "A hundred and forty characters of text including spacing. You know the drill!" In other words, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." [From: Mashable]
  • Market analysts are predicting that by 2012, Google's Android phone will eclipse the iPhone in popularity. Hopefully, this will inspire Apple to fix some of the glaring service issues and, more importantly, to branch out to other carriers besides AT&T. [From: Slashdot]
