I was Facebook connected to my friend's bizarro family and got to hear all their opinions about religion, death, resurrection, homosexuality and evolution! I also was offended by seeing them reprimand and my friend's friends about (very innocent and not really offensive) posts on FB, things not being suitable for young children and how everyone should be a Christian etc...! Well I blocked everyone except MY friends and now I cannot see or read anything they preach anymore. I don't think that people who use FB really understand how to block their accounts. In lieu of blocking - the two accounts idea is fantastic!!!

Chris

Comments on 10 Tips for Dealing With Family on Facebook

I did the same thing, but I'm 35. I have my account and I use it for gaming, friends and the like. I don't particularly post anything I'm embarrassed about but others do sometimes. So, I wasn't keen on being friends with my mom and our differing opinions, other people's opinions and comments on that account so I set up a family account. Now all my family is on my "mafia" (family only) account and no one is embarrassed or shocked by the postings. I will never accept my parent's FB or MS request. I had my MySpace public for a while and my dad saw comments from people I don't even know sending me 'drinks' with sexual comments on them and he freaked out. My friend got a tattoo and posted the pic forgetting that her mom is a MySpace friend. Parent's should just learn to respect their child's privacy, it is better to just interact using e-mail. When I read that some people are getting too smutty, I get off. If your someone who says and does things you shouldn't be, then possibly you may not want to be on facebook. I'm a stickler for honorable and respectable people, not using bad language and other immoral stuff. And so far for me Facebook hasn't had too many people on like that. So I'm grateful. If I see that stuff I get off. And only add friends that I know try hard to use good morals. Its not Facebook that is bad, its the people who don't use respect and dignity that give places like Facebook, or, My Space for that matter a bad reputation. People need to smarten up and go back to the days when RESPECT and DIGNITY were POPULAR, not smut.

Helen Hurley

Comments on 10 Tips for Dealing With Family on Facebook

TO: ALL MOMS, DADS, STEPDADS, THOSE OF THE OLDER GENERATION

STOP JOINING MYSPACE AND FACEBOOK! Are you under the general young brained thought process that believes that your parents will not find out that you are doing things that everyother teenager in the world is doing? Parents are a lot smarter then you! We have been around a lot longer then you, and the things that you are doing now are probably what your parents did when they were younger and also most likely the reason that you exist in the first place! Not to mention the fact that if you are doing something that you are embarrassed about someone finding out about, then you have 2 options. One, don't do it in the first place and two, what ever you do DON'T post it on the internet!!

Rebecca
