Are you a fan of the motorcycle's ability to lean into turns but just don't feel safe riding with your body exposed like that? Well,
a new concept car from
Nissan has you covered, literally.
According to Engadget, the Nissan Land Glider features two-in-line seats and the ability to lean at a 17-degree angle around turns. At just 3.5-feet wide, the
electric car can maneuver like a bike, but it's also a zero-emissions vehicle, unlike those other hogs on the highway.
Alright, so the Land Glider doesn't give you as much street cred as a Harley Davidson, or even
this other electric motorcycle. But it's still amazing to see a car, albeit a small one, lean into those turns (see the video after the break). One can only imagine what it'd feel like sitting behind the wheel. Come to think of it, the Land Glider will debut in a few weeks at the Tokyo Motor Show. Maybe we could "borrow" the Glider while security is distracted. [From:

Another reminder of how far behind America is slipping in technology.

Very cool, however unneeded and useless. The effort put into that feature should have been spent on safety, I'll bet that crumbles like tissue paper. At least "Smart car" is somewhat safe. Vehicles this small manuever just fine without the need to lean unless you are racing.
Next, when it leans look closely at the bottom of the car, there is no more than 2 inches ground clearance, not so good.

when are we going to get with the times and design a new suspension that uses electromagnets instead of shocks, struts and springs.... all you need to do is put sensors in front of the wheels and boom, no more bumpy rides.... and you could easily program it to lean like this in turns..... you could also use electromagnets on things like cylinder valves also to get rid of camshafts, hence less friction and better fuel mileage with more control.... or we could grow hemp and use hemp fuel and not worry about mileage.....

That has already been done. Google BOSE Suspension System.

Not the first, and by the looks of it not anything close to the original car/motorcycle hybrid.

I expected something that looks a bit like this about 10 years ago. Now make it fly & it will be exactly what I had expected.
