Scandalized by the Web: College Sports Edition

In the age of social media, college athletes have it rough. Unlike the pros, these undergrads aren't getting paid millions, but they're under just as much scrutiny. Sometimes, they just can't handle the pressure, and with help from a cell phone, their mistakes get plastered across the Web. Of course, scandals are like catnip to us here at Switched, so we dug up a few of the more embarrassing examples of recent memory. Read on....

Matthew Stafford's keg-carrying antics
While a freshman in college in the Spring of 2007, former Georgia quarterback Stafford spent a drunken weekend at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, impressing co-eds with his ability to hoist a beer keg above his head. It ended up online. Surely, the 19-year-old didn't drink any beer first....





Former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn's crotch grab
Notice how frightened the two guys on the left look. Then, there's Quinn. The former Fighting Irish star is all smiles and appears comfortable in the classic 'crotch-grabbing pose.' As you can see from this March, 2007 apology, Quinn remained what's-the-big-deal casual even after the image broke.





USC defensive end Everson Griffen and linebacker Jordan Campbell rabble-rousing on Nantucket
Griffen and Campbell were having the time of their young lives in Nantucket this past July, until police cited the crew for 'breach of peace,' with the ensuing photos debuting on brobible.com and spreading around pretty quickly after that. That's not even the embarrassing part -- check those swim trunks.





Nebraska wrestlers Paul Donahoe and Kenny Jordan appear on gay porn site
When pictures of these guys surfaced on a gay porn site, chaos and anger swept Cornhusker Nation. At least the two guys got paid for posing for these images!




USC linebacker Rey Maualuga dances on ESPN reporter Erin Andrews
Maualuga won't be on 'Dancing With The Stars' any time soon, but he fulfilled many a man's fantasy with this awkward dance, which made the rounds thanks to YouTube. After Andrews' peephole video, this clip seems tame.






Is this gal Florida quarterback Tim Tebow's girlfriend?
It's the greatest debate the college football rumor mill has seen -- is this voluptuous brunette the girlfriend of the 'Golden Boy?' No one can or will say. But Tebow does look pretty happy, as he should.





UNC center Tyler Hansbrough jumps off roof into pool
By jumping off this fraternity-house roof last year, 'Almost-Famous'-style, Hansbrough certainly lived up to his college nickname of 'Psycho T.' It's a safe bet Michael Jordan didn't try this during his college years. Either way, blogosphere-bound sports fans ate it up.





USC track-star Jennifer Mueller knows her way around a beer bong
She's athletic, blond, tan, and can funnel beer with the best of them. What more could a man ask for in a woman? How about some dignity – and discretion on Facebook (where these pics were found in July by National Lampoon's Splog) -- might not be bad, either.





Northwestern University women's soccer team hazes players, photos ensue
After photos hit the Web in May 2006, a night of drinking, hazing and some light bondage proved not to be as fun for these female athletes as it might sound. Let's just say Northwestern was none too happy.





Eli Manning becomes victim of random drunk pic
This could be any drunk frat guy in Oxford, Miss., but it's not. Instead, it's an awkward college photo of Eli Manning that showed up on Deadspin in 2006, which makes it even better. Actually, he might not be drunk. Maybe he's just impersonating his brother, Peyton.
