10-Year-Old Girl Tries to Sell 'Moaning' Grandma on eBay

Pemberton wasn't completely disrespectful, though, as she tried to spice up the sale by declaring that Goodall was "very cuddly and loves word searches." Even though 27 people bid, some over $3,000, on the sweet sexagenarian, eBay removed the listing because, according to spokesperson Jenny Thomas, the site "does not allow the listing of any human being."
This isn't the first time that someone has attempted to sell a family member on the Web. Peddling a lovable Granny just seems cruel and resentful particularly when the culprit is a 10-year-old girl. But, being purchased by someone who would actually appreciate an adoring, puzzle-loving Granny would certainly beat the alternative of getting shipped off to a forgotten nursing home. Banned: Stuff You Cant Sell on eBay
Natalie Dylan - Virginity
Last January, Natalie Dylan, a 22-year-old college student from San Diego, was booted off eBay after she tried to auction off her virginity on the site. She has since hosted the auction on the Web site of a Nevada brothel. As of February 6th, the highest reported bid was $3.7 million.
Apex A-600 DVD Player - hidden ability to deactivate Macrovision's copy-protection feature; removed at Macrovision's request
In eBay's early days, lots of folks tried to sell the Apex A-600 DVD player, which had the hidden ability to deactivate Macrovision's copy-protection feature. After some calls from Macrovision headquarters, eBay took the auction down.
Dante Knoxx (musician) - his soul
This past December, UK musician Dante Knoxx failed in his attempt to sell his very soul on eBay. We think that's probably in his music career's best interest, truthfully. Judging from this guy's looks, he doesn't have much soul to spare.
Man Tries to Sell Kidney
The Ur of all banned eBay auctions is the case of an anonymous man who tried to sell his kidney back in 1999. The auction lead to a raging debate about privilege, health and ethics (and a highest bid of $5.7 million) before it was removed from the site.
Kevin Mitnick (Hacker) - Prison Commissary Card
Back in 2000, convicted hacker Kevin Mitnick used eBay to auction off the commissary card he carried during his stay in a Federal prison. After two days, eBay yanked the item, citing their opposition to selling government IDs.

Woman Selling 4- and 8-year-old kids
In 2007, a 31-year-old mother of two in Benton, Illinois posted an eBay listing, trying to sell her children. While eBay promptly canceled the auction, Benton police found the children to be safe and sound, leaving them in the custody of their still-unidentified mother.
eBay Lottery
Possibly the most ingenuous of all banned eBay auctions was the one held by an anonymous entrepreneur in 2006. Selling 10,000 "tickets," for $2.50 a piece, he promised to give half of the auction's total take to the person with the winning ticket. Apparently no gambling men among them, the folks at eBay took it down.
Mummy
In 2006, 45-year-old Lynn Sterling put a mummified human skeleton up for auction on eBay. The folks at eBay quickly kicked this sale to the curb, though not before a user named Satan's Child placed a bid of $500.

Man Tries to Ditch Cheating Wife on eBay
Last May, more than a little perturbed by his wife's behavior, Paul Osborn took his temper to eBay, where he offered to sell the "adulterous, lying, cheating, bitch, whore" Sharon to the highest bidder. As you might imagine, that auction didn't last too long.
Man Attempts to eBay Himself
In 2007, Michael Hault -- a student at England's prestigious Cambridge University -- went on eBay to sell himself. That's right. Himself. Brilliantly, in defense of eBay's removal of the auction, a company spokeswoman said, "He needs to be clearer what the buyer could expect."

mommyange196....reference to your post to Greg....Greg isn't saying the parents are scholastically challenged, he's stating they are ignorant in their parenting...I'm sure you're already aware of the meaning of his post. It seems you just want to nitpick someone's post. It would be nice if your post actually had reference to the article.
I think the child has very little respect for her grandmother. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it's the parents fault. Their child may never respect others.

Some kids don't know when they have t so good, do they? Some children are not blessed with a doting, sweet Granny. This little girl needs to learn to count her blessings and quit being a spoiled brat. She probably just wanted to buy some video game or add text messages to her cell phone and granny told her to go outside and play and get some exercise and learn the art of communicating instead of texting your friends. Kids are so spoiled these days and have no respect or understanding what it is to be FAMILY and love one another.

WOW ... now wonder society's kids are such burdens on society. With parents looking the other way and finding disrespectful behavior as "a joke". NO, this child needs a good old fashioned butt whoppin. Hope someone sells you off when you are older and see if you find that a joke. You might, though, you sound like the type.

Greg its kind of funny that you are calling other people Ignorant when you don't even know the difference in spelling a plural noun and a possessive one. bitches = PLURAL vs. Bitch's = possessive

Well, since the story clearly states this is an English girl and the story is taken from the Daily Mail. I am going to assume that means she is from England and is really not much of an indictment on this country at all.

A mother of three boys (15, 8 and 2) I find this very FUNNY! This child is being a child not a brat! First she could have done worst (kill the grandmother), second no one would have really taken the lady in. Third she was being a KID and will have a great story to tell her grandkids. Kids at 10 dont know old people, they dont understand the noises they make, or why they are cranky. My kid at 15 wants nothing to do with his elder grandparents because they are no fun. Its people like " Greg" that shouldnt have kids. I would hate to see what would happen when they failed at school, or came home with someone elses animals because they thought it was cute, or how about pinches a girls butt in Kindergarten. People you all need to ease up a little. Life goes way too fast besides I know for a fact my 15 never less my 8 year doesnt have my ebay account information ~ what was a 10 year old doing on a computer without a parent??? How did they access an ebay account?? Think a little more about the story ~ it was probably a prank from an adult to make a headline!!

If you were the grandmother you wouldn't find it funny at all. It would hurt my feelings if my 10 year old grandson did that to me. He has more respect for me than that anyway. I agree with the one who said she needs a good whooping.

I'm almost certain Greg is from the south, that is a very southern crack. Let it go Chrissy, those folks are not really in touch with reality.

I don't believe a 10 year old did this. There is too much involved in listing items on ebay for a 10 year old to do without the help of an adult. Who gave her the account information? Looks more like a "joke" to me. Copycatting the guy who was selling his parents. They had a good sense of humor about it all cause it was just a joke..

There is one thing we should consider here. Did the grandmother baked for her grandchild. Baking should be a mandatory thing for grandparents and it should be illegal if they do not. What if the girl is suffering from lack of "granny baked goods". Her cerebral could have been effected thus her creating the auction of the source of her pain. Lets hear it for *PROP 100* (grandmothers must bake).

What a spoiled little brat. I hope she got a spanking hard enough she had trouble sitting for a week. However, I have great doubts about that. The child is probably never disclipined. But, then this shouldn't surprise me. Up until about 2 years ago I owned a store that specialized in Thomas the Tank Engine. It would take me all day to describe the spoiled brats, juvenile delinquents and disrespectful kids that came into that place. And I can tell you 99% of the time it's the parents' fault. They exercised NO authority or control over the children. The kids had all the power in the family. You'd be shocked at how many parents are afraid to say no to children or even upset them. I had parents who BEGGED the child to be allowed to buy it something, the kid didn't want anything. The worst was when I had a 4 year old girl HIT her grandmother because she wanted this one particular toy. Now the grandmother had ALREADY spent over a hundred dollars on the two grandchildren. I didn't care what anyone thought, I yelled at that kid. I also taught please and thank-you at my store. The overhead train could not run unless they said the magic word - please. Also, whenever an adult bought a child something I told the child to say thank-you. You'd be shocked at how many kids looked at me like I had 3 heads. However, most did it and the parents were SO grateful. So you see, it just takes adults in this world TEACHING children these things. But in today's society, NO adults do this, especially parents who are SUPPOSE to be the ones doing it. So, back to the story.....I blame this complete lack of respect on the parents. I hope they got a real eye-opener when they found out about this, if they did. If I had EVER shown disrespect to any of my older relatives when I was young I can't even imagine what my punishment would have been. When I was a child in the 60s children never thought of disrespecting the elderly like this, this is what has become of our society. Rather said don't you think.
