Disney Replacing Bedtime Stories (and Parents) With Digital Books?

A new service, called Disney Digital Books, lets kids read what are essentially advertisements for Disney films on a computer screen. There are 500 books from which to choose, and kids can even assemble their own books. What's more, there is apparently a social aspect to the service, allowing kids to connect with other readers (great idea!) and Disney characters (e-maginary friends?).
Before you start thinking this doesn't sound too bad, understand that Disney will be charging you a rather hefty fee for the privilege of "reading" these "books." The cheapest account costs $8.95 a month, or $79 a year, for up to three children.
We're going to suggest that you just go pick up a physical copy of 'The Tale of Pete Rabbit' or 'Harold and the Purple Crayon.' You can probably find each for $1 at a used bookstore or flea market. Plus, you can actually read with your children, instead of letting your gadgets babysit them. [From: CrunchGear]
