CNN iPhone App Officially Hits iTunes

The My CNN function automatically locates your device, lets you choose what kind of stories to track, and almost immediately brings up the most significant news from your area, including region-specific weather, traffic, and local news updates. All stories can be easily saved and distributed to social networking friends using the easy-to-locate Share tab.
In perhaps its coolest feature, the app allows you to submit your own photos and opinions with iReport. Currently, CNN is looking for users to send in information on the Vietnamese Typhoon, distracted drivers, and signs of autumn. There's already a great user-submitted photo depicting the Yellowstone fires.
The most vocal concerns prior to the app's debut focused on the annoying ads that users were forced to endure despite having forked over their hard-earned money. Thankfully, the headlines page's ads are barely noticeable, appearing at the bottom of the screen, and video ads are limited to a single photo, with text included, briefly preceding the videos.
According to Download Squad, the CNN mobilizers are taking the venture seriously and plan to unveil more features in the future. Hopefully, to address one shortcoming, the network can take advantage of its partnership with Sports Illustrated to add a designated Sports section. And, for all you CNN-deprived users of CrackBerrys and other smartphones, be patient. The news leader said that it definitely plans to address your mobile needs soon.
