J.K. Rowling's Anti-Twitter Tweets, Apple App Store Hits 2 Billion

Highlights from this morning's other big tech headlines....
  • J.K. Rowling, the author behind 'Harry Potter,' has joined Twitter at last (largely to prevent the proliferation of Rowling impostors). Don't get too excited, though, because she immediately tweeted: "I'm afraid you won't be hearing from me very often... as pen and paper is my priority at the moment." That'd be great news, if there were another Potter edition in the pipeline, but alas... [From: Newsvine.com]
  • Comedians on the Net aren't anything new, but apparently sites like Break.com, ComedyCentral.com, and Wimp.com have reported a 27-percent increase in visitors from this time last year. Either the mainstream craves its fix of dancing babies, or Americans really just need a laugh. [From: SFGate.com]
  • This morning, Apple announced that its App Store, which contains over 85,000 applications, has surpassed two billion downloads. That's pretty impressive, considering it was at 1.5 billion just two months ago. [From: Reuters.com]
  • The headaches and fatigue associated with cell phones may actually be psychosomatic. A study conducted by European scientists has stated there is no definite link between cell usage and brain cancer. However, it also points out that prevalent mobile-to-ear contact has only been around for ten years or less. [From: CTV.com, via Textually]
  • According to a phone survey conducted by AAA, one in five drivers has admitted to texting behind the wheel (although almost all drivers think it's a bad idea). Simple solution: if it's a bad idea, don't do it. [From: Reuters.com]
