Shower Radio Top Survey of Worst Household Gadgets
Everyone has a home appliance or gadget that sits neglected in a dark corner as it accumulates a layer of grime and dust. By polling 3,000 English women, the Daily Mail sought to uncover exactly what device, which seemed like a needed commodity at the time, is the most likely to remain unused and unappreciated. In a somewhat surprising victory, the shower radio managed to best all comers. Although some choices look a little out of place, like the digital photo frame, most of the gadgets, like the egg slicer and the facial tanner, definitely seem worthless. The poll also asked about the most necessary home gadgets, with the women ranking television number one, followed by the microwave.
Since the poll was conducted in England, some of the items don't necessarily apply to folks in the States. The Soda Stream and the Teasmaid, respectively ranked the 4th and 5th worst, probably don't appear in too many US households. So, to Americanize these rankings (and to prevent others from making the same impulsive money-wasting mistake), if you have something that once seemed awesome, like a talking meat thermometer or an Internet-connected coffee maker, that now idly waits for the next garage sale, share it in the comments. I must agree with the choice of Shower Radio. Every time I see one offered, I wonder who would ever buy or use such a gadget.

The worst gadget ever was a TV built into the refrigerator door! I am a TV repairman and that was the most insane idea ever. The idea was suppose to be that the TV would connect to the internet and order groceries for you. What a waste of time and resources that was. The TV never did work right, mainly due to moisture, yes moisture and TV's don't mix! The problem is you cannot make a totally moisture proof TV due to the fact that a TV or any electronic device needs to breathe so if you make a TV that is moisture proof it won't breathe and therefore would burn out anyway, if you put vents into it, the moisture gets in from the refrigerator and therefore corrodes the components. I want to meet the moron who came up with this idea. Most likely a Harvard Business School Grad came up with this idea.

Actually, I have owned a Sony shower radio for a few years now and still use it every day. I have two sets of rechargeable batteries that I swap when one set runs out. The kids also love and use it when showering.
If it broke today, I'd buy another one in a hearbeat.

I agree demodave. My almost two-year-old Sharper Image shower radio finally bit the big one and I'm freaking out without one. I'm seraching for a new one and I stumbled upon this site when I googled "shower radio".
