Vampire Lamp Runs on Human Blood
In this week's installment of Creepy Beyond Comprehension [Editor's note: A section we made up, just now], we'd like to introduce you to a newly designed lamp that runs on human blood. Stop reading this post now, if you want. We'd understand. Really.Designer Mike Thompson's latest innovation is the creatively named "Blood Lamp," a device that can only be used once, and requires the user to submit his or her (or, presumably, anyone's) blood in order to illuminate it. We're a bit hazy on the exact chemistry behind all this, but that's pretty much beside the point, right? The thing runs on blood.
It should be noted, though, that the invention is more illustrative than practical, aimed at forcing the average consumer to consider exactly how much energy people needlessly waste on a daily basis. If we had to prick our finger each time we wanted to read a book at night, we'd probably think more about energy, too. The means of hammering the point home may be a bit extreme, but we have to admit that the notion behind it is definitely a worthy one. Beware, however, something as cute and innocent as blood-thirsty indoor lighting may someday snowball into something truly terrifying [From: BoingBoing]
