Mini-Video for Micro-Blogs, 'Flight of the Conchords' Meets 'Rock Band'

Highlights from this morning's other big tech headlines....
  • For all those Kiwi fans out there, TV stars/folk duo Flight of the Conchords will get three songs on the new 'Rock Band.' Well, we think. It's hard to tell whether those guys are kidding or not. [From: Kotaku]
  • Robo.to lets users record three-second videos of themselves, via cell-camera or Web cam, and then post them to profiles on Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter. [From: NYTimes.com]
  • YouTube has shared a graph indicating that the majority of video streamers cast their votes at five stars, suggesting that, for the most part, viewers vote only when they see something they love. YouTube project manager Shiva Rajaraman wonders if it might be better to move to a "thumbs up/down" rating. [From: YouTube]
  • If this blogger only had an iPhone, she would be ecstatic about the two new official Starbucks apps. The first has nutritional and amenity-related info, and the second (still being tested) actually produces a barcode so that caffeine fiends can pay with their iPhones. Genius. [From: WSJ.com]
  • Usually pretty good about their top ads, Google has accidentally let a malicious masquerader through the gates. Googling "Firefox" suggests that users click on "Mozilla.com/Firefox," which is indeed the right URL, but will actually transport surfers to another site promising Firefox "customer care" for $2.50. [From: TechCrunch]
  • Harvard has announced the "Espresso Book Machine," a service provided by On Demand Books. Perfect for those eleventh-hour term papers, the machine -- in mere minutes -- prints books that have been digitized by Google. Quick question though: Wouldn't it be more ecological to just use a non-paper-wasting e-reader? [From: FoxNews.com]
