Blockbuster Planning to Close 960 Stores Next Year
Between Netflix, on-demand TV, and Red Box, it's been clear for some time that Blockbuster, in its traditional form at least, isn't too long for this world. Blockbuster seems to have seen the writing on the wall, too; it has decided to close 960 stores by the end of 2010 and focus on its online and on-demand business.

Zune HD Gets First Homebrew App
Yesterday the Zune HD launch announcement confirmed that the device would be capable of running simple apps and games. Today, the first of those apps written by an independent developer has been seen in action.

Volkswagen's E-Up! Electric Car Concept Shown
Next year, we should start seeing the first wave of electric cars hitting showrooms, but it'll be a while yet before e-cars are common. Volkswagen is hoping to take a chunk of the burgeoning market with its E-Up! concept, an electric car with a 130km (80 mile) range. The company plans to introduce a model in 2013.

Samsung's Furot II Targets Roomba
The Roomba is oddly endearing and definitely effective, but Samsung thinks it can do better. The company has announced the Furot II robovac, but has not said when it'll be released or how much it'll cost.

Those with a bit of networking know-how have for many years known the joys of wireless printing and network-attached storage. Now anybody can get in on the action with Belkin's $130 Home Base, which takes the complexity out of the whole thing.

Bose's $599 iPod SoundDock 10
iPod docks come in all shapes, sizes, and price points. Bose's latest, the SoundDock 10, is definitely on the higher end of the price spectrum: $599.
