London's Bridges Battle on Twitter
The Internet does strange things to people, and apparently, to bridges as well.

It all started when a Twitter account was set up for the Tower Bridge across London's Thames River. The account announced when the drawbridge was opened or closed to allow river traffic to pass. The Telegraph writes that the resulting repetitive Tweets (i.e. "I am opening for the SB Gladys, which is passing downstream.") inspired someone to create an account for London Bridge, and immediately began taunting the @towerbridge Twitter account.

In an attempt to elicit a reaction from the official Tower Bridge account, ImLondonBridge started firing off Tweets like, "Hey @towerbridge. When are you going to do something again? You're even more boring when you're just sitting there. Yawn." Tower Bridge had no comment.

Sure enough, another pair of bridges, the Severn Bridge and the Clifton Suspension Bridge decided to get in on the action. They faced off over toll charges and general awesomeness. The bridges even engaged in dialog with the surreal London Bridge account.

We're hoping that the trend of Tweeting public structures makes its way to New York soon. We can't wait for the 140 character battles between the BQE and FDR Drive, or the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. [From: Telegraph]
