Sure you can save water on a new washer but if the one you have is five years old, what is the point. No one wants to discuss the costs involved with building new machines and disposing of old machines or for that matter, how long it takes to reach the break even point on the water bill. These types of articles are misleading and only benefit A: green geeks B: people who sell machines C: people in the recycle business. Gee Dell, Apple and all other computer makers, how green is forcing people to upgrade computers every two years because the hard parts of the current computers can't be upgraded (allegedly). Earth friendly, my aunt fanny!

Shari

Comments on 12 Earth-Friendly Appliances for Your Home

I got a European low water washer. Clothes don't get clean; pet hair doesn't get removed; clothes and towels "pill" much worse than in my old machine. There's just not enough water to do the job right, and there's no way to adjust the water level.
