Twitter's Models Bring 140-Character Style Tweets to Fashion Week
September in New York. The leaves begin to turn, shorts are traded for pants, and the entire city stops for one week -- Fashion Week, that is. The yearly chic charade keeps bloggers in business, but it's not only writers who take to the Net. Models -- usually only known for their vapidness and abilities to sit, lounge, walk and look pretty -- are just as avid tweeters and updaters as are athletes, politicians, and actors. No, we're not talking about the ones that bring about major defamation lawsuits. Some famous runway stars use their blogs for witty, and sometimes downright funny, commentary. Refinery 29 has listed some of their favorites, but here is a good break down:
Coco Rocha: The red-headed beauty has starred in campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger and Chanel, but her blog, 'Oh So Coco,' reads like a gal-next-door's.
Daul Kim: The Korean model, who is known for her extreme, avant-garde style, has a random blog hilariously titled 'I Like to Fork Myself' that shows how down-to-Earth she really is. It also highlights some of her photo shoots (some NSFW). She gets points for sticking to her Korean heritage, as well.
Lyle Lodwick: Men are models, too, and Lyle -- who has landed campaigns for Topman and Diesel -- also documents his New York-fueled outings on Vogue Adventures.
For fashionistas that track trends on Twitter, other models show up, documenting their lives in 160 characters or less. Victoria Secret's Chanel Iman tweets constantly on her account, Brooklyn Decker chats about Sports Illustrated and filming for Ugly Betty, and mag model Sessilee Lopez shares insight with her fans online, too.
