Most people are familiar with the Splinter Cell style of gameplay, so rather than making the attraction of new gamers a priority, they are probably more interested in making an ad memorable enough to get the word out that a new entry in the series has arrived.
If the new game had some totally unprecedented gameplay development that left the rest of the series in the dust, I'm sure they'd be making a big deal out of that.
