Caught on Video: Thieves Ransack Apple Store in 31 Seconds
In about the time it takes to send a tweet, five masked men cleaned out a Marlton, New Jersey Apple Store in the wee hours of yesterday morning. It took about 31 seconds for the men to shatter a plate-glass door, sprint inside the store, and collect 23 Macbook Pro laptops, 14 iPhones and 9 iPod touch handhelds, according to The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW). The only way they could've pulled off the heist any faster would be if they'd driven a race car through the store.
There was a security guard on duty during the robbery, but the thieves knew how to work him, too. They motioned at him as if they were holding guns, and, judging by the above video from WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, the guard just cowered in the corner. Who can blame him? Those devices aren't worth his life. Besides, shouldn't Apple install some metal gates in front of those doors? The store front might not look as sleek or hip, but it'd be a lot safer. [From: The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)]
Around Halloween of last year, a truckload of thieves drove into -- that's right, into -- a Pennsylvania Mexican restaurant, where they -- apparently uninterested in the cash register -- stole a mid-grade 47-inch HDTV and fled the scene. We've all heard about how this generation is lacking in ambition, but this generation's thieves, too?
Death of Print
Elle Girl
In April 2006, Elle Girl's print edition was closed down, but the Web site lives on at ellegirl.com.
CosmoGirl
Though it will be folded into Seventeen magazine, the teen version of Cosmopolitan will publish its last print issue in December 2008. It will live on at CosmoGirl.com.
Christian Science Monitor
Founded in 1908 by Mary Baker Eddy, this venerable paper will move all its daily content to the Web starting in 2009, though it will still publish a weekly print version.
Radar Magazine
Was it too snarky for its own good? We'll never know, but this modern-day successor to '80s-era Spy magazine shut down in October. AMI, owner of the National Enquirer, bought RadarOnline.com, however, which will focus on celebrity gossip a la TMZ.com.
US News and World Report
Once a serious competitor to Time and Newsweek, US News and World Report is now best known for its College guides, which it will continue to publish. The weekly newsmagazine, however, will be turned into a monthly, and all daily operations are moving to the Web at usnews.com.

I wish they had stolen my Iphone before I bought it. Talk about getting robbed! No video sound. No photo texting. You have to buy an"app" to be able to take a crap.
I WANT MY MONEY BACK. Could get the number of those theves. They should receove a reward. You know the Robin Hood thing. More line Robin' tha hood.

The only way to stop the thugs is to hike the price and install tracking devices on some of the goods. They don't have to do them all, just some. So when the prices go up - be sure to thank your local thug!!

That stolen stuff will end up on eBay, or sold on the street to someone looking for a bargain, then be inoperable once synched with iTunes.... It's really not cool to steal from Apple, they have the best security technology builty into their devices. And pretty much dictate how customers use their products... can't type anymore, surfing to eBay now : )~

this is stupid why not just examin all the camara footage from the past few weeks examine everyone who walked in and stayed a lot longer than usual and glances at the camaras every so often. this had to been planned they staked the place out figuered out the positions of the stuff, how long it took the guard to make his rounds and then practiced it over and over until they could do it 30 seconds.
p.s. come to think of it that security guard could be in on the jig. or maybe a new employee someone call police and tell them this. it could be a vauluble clue

In case anyone was wondering, "Why did those dumb thieves take a bunch of phones they can't use?" The answer is they can use them. Phones can have a SIM card placed in them without having to call the company to activate it and the phone is useable. I know because I work for Cingular and I have done the same thing with 5 different cell companies I have had contracts with. So maybe they aren't so dumb after all. Sell them to people and have them do the same thing.

my suggestion is that we legalize drugs. That way we can have the excitement of this more often, more home invasions and hopefully the fools that want to legalize them for reals can get caught right in the middle of the drug wars, I'd love to see that. Of all the things i've done in my life that I regret, the one that heads the list is when I had a record and tape shop in the 70's and sold paraphernalia, even though I never did drugs myself. Immediately "Marty" comes to mind. Kind of a John Sebanstian looking kid, comes in an buys papers. He's clean, a little bit preppy in dress. Months go by and during that time I guess I just failed to notice until one day it hit me when he came in the picture of him 6 months earlier, and then, scruffy beard, hair not only long but dirty, dirty jeans, filthy top coat. Amazing that we applaud and honor worthless individuals like Rosanne Barr but I remember one of her episodes where she and Dan found a joint. I'm sure the majority of the country were laughing their asses off as she and Dan sat in the tub, "wow, far out, cool man, DUH!" couldn't even get up. What need to happen is for every dope smoking drug taking person, and of course it's happened 10,000,000 times already, but to those it hasn't happened to their needs to be a major crisis where their child needs them right then and they can't even function. Was last year but just one of many instances where the dad, or maybe it was just a boyfriend took the girl to work and he's so anxious to get back home and do his drugs that he leaves the kid in the car to roast like a hamburger on a grill. Or the bus driver that was out all night, rushed home to do her drugs and then drove a school bus, RIGHT INTO T ROCK WALL!!. People promoting, taking, encouraging, selling, buying drugs are the scum of the earth.

But, Warren, if drugs were legalized the wrong people wouldn't be profiting from it and there wouldn't be so much violence and thievery. Think about it.
