Searching for 'Jessica Biel' Is Bad for Your Computer

Entering "Jessica Biel" into a search engine might not be the best idea these days. Instead of a list of the actress's credentials, or even some sexy photographs, you'll most likely end up with spam, spyware, a virus or a busted computer.

Reuters reports that Jessica Biel topped a list of the riskiest A-list celebrity names to search on the Web. The list, compiled by Internet security company McAfee Inc., found that users have a one-in-five chance of being directed to a malicious site when searching for Biel's name. It should come as no surprise that hackers use popular trends to infect computers and steal personal information. Last year, Brad Pitt topped McAfee's list, and he ranked only tenth in 2009.

Two other beautiful women topped this year's list -- Beyonce second, and Jennifer Aniston third. 'Beyonce ringtones' and 'Jennifer Aniston screensavers' are two of the worst phrases to search, according to McAfee. Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie, Ashley Tisdale, and others rounded out the list. As usual, let us warn you to be careful in your travels across the Web. Besides, that's just Megan Fox's head superimposed on a naked body. It's not worth an infected computer. Trust us. A-List means the bigger names in Hollywood, like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, etc. They are basically the actors/actresses that people always want in their movies and they get payed a lot of money. Also, if someone mentions their name, everyone knows who they are talking about. There are also B-list movie stars. They still make quite a bit of money, but are not as well known.

I feel sorry for Jessica. She's already being passed over for movie roles and now even her fans will avoid internet contact with her because some some computer geeks want to have some "fun." If she's beginning to feel a bit paranoid, I'd say she has reason to be. Sorry Jessica.

I have Windows. Have Firefox. Have AVG. Have Spybot. I've been using computers since 1987 and have been getting on the "internet" since 1991. Still got a Trojan a couple of weeks ago, clicking on a link in Google search results (and I was looking for the lyrics to a song, not for any of these celebs). If you think that hackers aren't constantly coming up with new ways to infect other peoples' computers, you are living in a fantasy world. Constant vigilance and knowing what to do *after* your computer has been infected (as well as being able to recognize that it *has* been infected) is more important that what operating system you use or what software you have loaded.

I agree with Thomas. Firefox and AVG are the best web-browsing tools out there. I recently tried to go on Facebook to check out some relatives photos, and the alarms went crazy on AVG. So, my friends, beware of there!
