Easy way to get people to drive more cautiously, everyone must learn to drive in a '63 falcon with the small 6. No stabilizer bar so turns must be made slowly. 4 wheel drum brakes help learning to deal with unstable car behavior and to plan stopping. The little 6 will get you up to traffic speeds but planning and timing must be learned.
Maybe over time we can reintroduce the 15 passenger van, a little more efficient than the chopped down tour busses they're using in their place. Over time when we have a pool of people that know how to drive, rather than just disconnected theory because cars do everything for them and are overly forgiving, we can have cars that are durable again and much less expensive since all the bells and whistles can be stripped. I hope we go this direction, otherwise in a couple of generations cars will just be transportation for the wealthy.
