Belarus Unveils Cell Phone Radiation-Proof School Uniforms
Despite the fact that there is hardly any conclusive evidence supporting the theory that cell phones emit brain-melting and impotence-inducing levels of radiation, there are plenty of people out there who still live in fear of their RAZRs and iPhones. For those who insist on believing that carrying a cell phone is tantamount to sticking your head in a microwave, there is hope, though; a Belarusian company has developed a special fabric that claims to protect against cell phone radiation. Its first application will be in school uniforms that will have a special cell-phone pocket to protect students from the supposedly carcinogenic radio waves. According to Foreign Policy, the announcement of the new uniforms was made by a state official from the Ministry of Trade, implying that the government is supportive of the cellular-radiation-fear mongering.
Of course, if authorities were really afraid that cell phones were going to give their kids cancer, it would probably be more effective to fit them with special, cell-phone-protective hats. Or just ban the things in schools entirely. [From: Foreign Policy, via Textually.org]

As a former Technical Assistant for Ameritech, GTE Mobilenet, and Verizon Wireless, if you want proof, go to your nearest cell site and look for mice, they will be running in circles.

They should just ban cell phones in school and not have to have to issue anti-radiation space suits.

Agree Wes. Too bad for the rest have their heads stuck in sand on this. Try putting a hummingbird feeder out within a quarter of a mile of a transmission or cell tower. You won't find many if any. Also, weren't schools supposed to be banning cellies?? The state of public ed is a nightmare it's only brought on itself. Crap like this- part of the reason why.

Belarus still must live in the trauma after Chernobyl, people still die there because of various cancers after the disaster, that's why probably they are obsessed about any kind of radiation. Plus their dictator is mad about evil influences of all that comes from the west (as if Charnobyl was the work of western capitalists, and not bad-working Soviet industry with aging technologies...)
