Best of the Rest: 'Star Trek' vs. 'Star Wars,' Ridley Scott to Direct 'Brave New World'

There's a load of great tech news happening out there every day, and, unfortunately, we just can't cover it all. Here are a few of the other noteworthy things we saw today on our never-ending journey through the wild, wild Web.
  • The debate over which is better, 'Star Trek' or 'Star Wars,' may never be resolved, but there is no more surefire way to stir up a whole lot of geek rage than to declare a winner. This Wired writer may have to hire some protection. [Wired]
  • Remember holograms? They used to appear on trading cards and in video games. Well, with the aid of an ultrasound machine and a couple of Wiimotes, now you can touch them. We can't wait for the anniversary edition of 'Time Traveler.' [YouTube]
  • LOMO cameras are known for their overly saturated, slightly blurry, and easily identifiable photos. And in celebration of its 25th anniversary, there is now a special edition of the iconic LOMO LC-A. [LimitedHype]
  • Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World' is going to get the Hollywood treatment thanks to 'Alien' director Ridley Scott. Leonardo DiCaprio is signed on to star in what we hope will not be yet another tragically terrible adaptation of classic sci-fi literature. [Reuters]
  • Comic legend and creator of 'Transmetropolitan' Warren Ellis has landed his own column in Wired UK. The most recent entry appears to be about traffic and buildings, but Ellis's prose is about as easy to follow as refrigerator magnet poetry. [Wired UK]
