Morning Xtra: Palin Addresses Divorce Rumors, Skype Is Ready To Fight

Highlights from this morning's other big tech headlines....
- That Internet maverick Sarah Palin has taken to Facebook to dispel rumors of divorce, which quickly spread around the Web this past weekend. Her page has listed the info as "fiction." [From: Mashable]
- The media is dubbing it the "Twitter Rape Case," though it is unclear how big of a role the live-blogging site played in the rape of a woman by MC Hammer's cousin (and 'Hammertime' regular), Marvin Grant. [From: Mashable]
- "Don't panic," says Skype-focused SkypeJournal, addressing rumors that the Web-talk service will be shutting down due to a disagreement with peer-to-peer leader Joltid. The simple, 'Hitchhiker's Guide'-style declaration from the blog suggests that Skype will come out swinging in court next year. [From: SkypeJournal]
- Can you hear it now? That's the sound of Verizon dropping the price of current smartphones to $99 (with a two-year agreement of course.) [From: BoyGeniusReport]
- U.K. football (i.e. soccer) star Darren Bent may have jeopardized his £14 million ($23.58 million) club switch when he vented on Twitter about how long it was taking to settle the deal. The hotheaded athlete tweeted to his current club's owner to stop "f****** around," and then immediately apologized, hopefully not spoiling the deal. Bent was fined two weeks' pay. [From: CNet and Mirror.co.uk]
- Using only the iPhone, a research project is attempting to determine what makes people happy. An experimental application polls individuals several times a day, eventually sending back a report on how cheery the user in question may or may not be. [From: DownloadSquad]

Why not Pray for President Obama without trashing Palin? Dems, you are looking weak, and like you lack confidence when you keep going after Palin.

Skype will come out of this okay one way or another. They're already saying it's not as bad as it has been made out to be (but they've gotten a lot of news coverage from this), and they can always re-engineer the relatively small piece that is being contended.
