She called her landlord immediately, as she should have, to have it fixed, and quit using the sink to which the pipe attached to minimize water damage. By the time he finally bothered to show up, after she'd been washing her dishes in the bathtub for over a month, the mold was so extensive it had taken over most of the closet and wall nearest the pipe. He replaced the pipe, but left the mold. The tenant had to move to protect her health from the allergic reactions to the mold he made no attempt to clear. So, she didn't break the pipe, she did notify the landlord immediately, she quit running water through the broken pipe, the landlord did nothing for over a month. Yeah, sorry, but sometimes it's the landlord's fault.

Kyla

Comments on

This is really for everyone. Landlords can be a real trips sometimes. Take mine for instance, they raised my rent last year by $200, and told me oh they will be coming in to do repairs, this is now alamost a year later, and not one repair has been done. The carpets are still the old ones that are shredding apart. There is mold growing in the corner of my bedroom, and in my computer room. The walls are cracked, the last time it was painted was in 2007. Their kids keep so much damm noise I do not get any sleep. And the kids jump so hard and so much that debris falls from the ceiling. The complete corner of one side of the room is filled with this debris, and some of it even comes down on to my bed. The other night the kids were jumping so hard that I thought there was going to be an avalanche of dirt coming from my window sill in the kitchen. So I am out here by next month, and I am not cleaning up any of that mess. It is really embarassing to bring company home, I can't keep any home meetings for my business to grow. Their daughter smoked drugs in the house and I have asthma. And paying $1400/mth for a piece of shyt, but you should see their luxurious apartment upstairs on the second floor.

Ladylove39J

Comments on

I would hope that they had checked the apt. for mold first before going nuclear. My apartment developed a leak at the water heater which is in an outside storeroom surrounded by shrubbery. I noticed a leak onto the patio and requested a repair. The maintenance guy tightened the hoses and turn them so the leak ran back behind the water heater where you couldn't see it. Everything looked OK out front. Because we're in the desert the owners decided to tear out the grass and shrubs and put in desert friendly plants. OK by me. They stripped away the bushes from the shed, green mold everywhere and back behind the water heater where the water was twisted to go? Black mold. They had to rip out all the walls and replace everything. Thank goodness it was found before it hit the apartment walls. There's guilt on both sides in the landlord/tenant relationship.

Tyggie

Comments on

What ever happened to freedom of speech?

Keglera

Comments on

Your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins. How frightening that it isn't enough that landlords want their tenants to take all of the risk as in their stupid one year leases where you would owe for all the other months in the event of a job loss, when you couldn't even live there anymore in the event of a job loss. No one needs a problem like this, too many can't even save paying these outrageous rents, and then to get sued over a statement so heartlesslessly; my god, who would do business with them?

I wish people weren't so desperate making landlords holding all the cards and taking advantage for doing little compared to the renters paying the bills.

My renter has violated contract many times, but I'm smart and nice enough to know who I'm dealing with psychologically and socially, and to recognize the good and be able to measure importance; she's rented for me for 5 steady years with an offer to purchase. These landlords want to make too much of a killing and offer far too little, and then swim in the life of luxury their renters pay for.

I blame dual income couples for constantly doubling the cost of living until recent times for the high rates, and I can recognize heavy immigration and less unit availability and group living caused by their presence is also a factor.

I hope this gets thrown out by the judge and that she counter sues for emotional and other damages and wins.

Being a hard@$$ gets no where with me.

Sarah

Comments on

Are you kidding me!

kjtrucks

Comments on

Dan Tenore:

I AM currently a landlord(lady) whatever....and I also have been in the position of having to rent and so has my daughter.
