Bill Gates Quits Facebook Over Too Many Friends

According to Yahoo! Tech, Gates told a crowd in New Delhi that he had received so many friend requests, it became tough to determine who he knew and who he didn't. Gates, who was in India to accept an award for his philanthropic work with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, said that around 10,000 people wanted to be his friend on the popular social network. 'It was just way too much trouble so I gave it up,' he said at the event.
He also warned the crowd that while the technological revolution has been 'hugely beneficial,' it can also 'waste our time.' As with so many of us, Gates must have gotten sidetracked by those invitations to join a mob or to take a quiz to determine which character from 'Twilight' he's most like. Now, he can get back to saving the world. [From: Yahoo! Tech]

I don't get on Face Book, but I don't have a desire. Why would people put their lives on there for everyone to read. If someone wants to share something with me, they can call me, show me a picture or phone me. I have heard stories of very hurtful things on that web site...people can put any kind of picture or subject they want. It has broken relationships and friendships.

Arvig is an example of someone that has accounts to all those sites I brought up. And that's he/she is butt hurt that I pulled his/her card. I understand you live your life behind a screen. And why do I not have a life just cause I posted a comment on AOL? This is the only way I get my news smart guy or girl. If they didn't want you to comment on the article, maybe they should take it away so I don't have lames like you bugging me about a comment. Now off to work to where I make money. Unlike people that just come here to bump there gums.

A while ago I was committed to Bellview mental institution. Every Thursday we had a group psychology session. There was one guy that always said, "Oh boo hoo" after every sad story to mock us. One Thursday night we all got together and ate him.

You mean Bill has just discovered that every beggar, sponge, pimp wants to be your friend when you are reputed to hold a few billions?

You said it Arvig! I would think that people would realize how dumb they make themselves appear when they post something derogatory about other posters. They are posting comments too like the rest of us..... If they think it's so lame why aren't they out living the wonderful, exceptionally fullfilling, gloriously adventurous, better-than-everyone- elses life they supposedly have???? I do have a Facebook account and so far I'm not that impressed, but I do have relatives that have contacted me that I wouldn't normally hear from and it passes the time. That is when I'm not out saving the world and having adventures! ;-P

Fact is, 95 percent of what's on the Internet is a waste of time. It's just the new entertainment venue, replacing what TV used to be.
It's the same with cell phones. Everyone claims to need one for "emergencies," but most people dial 1,000 numbers or more a month and not ONE of them is 911.
I'm sure Gates had high hopes for the serious use of computers, but they're a joke now, annoying and frustrating most of the time. If things really do go full circle, we should all go back to reading books again real soon!

It is so pathetic with the media and the press the way they suck up to this jerk and criminal Bill Gates. So he and his stupid little wife buy they "Person of the Year" some years ago, and no one questions it. It is so pathetic and disgusting how in this country if your a filthy rich slob, nothing else matters!!!

Why do people care about Bill and Melinda? He is so tight with his money and has so many strings attached to it, give it up people, there is no way in hell he will give you a dime.
Most of his money and now the billions of that other rich man goes out of the country and into the corrupt hands of Afican governments to stop AIDS. Ha!
The Gates Foundation needs to over see the money they do give, not to help Americans, but to help foreign countries.
