NASA's purported past feats of grandeur and creativity were the main drivers in my effort to live in this land.In fairness there have been many bonafide feats as well.
Respectfully: You and I, both know America never went to the moon. 40 years later, we can barely reach sub orbital space without accident!.You and i both know, it was President Kennedy's grand proclamation fueled by cold war adrenalin that forced NASA's straight talking honest scientist's and engineers to live through this lie. How much it must have hurt them!.And much as I revere Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, I am glad I'm neither.
However.. We we should not look back; except, to learn lessons.
Its time the US govt. stopped spending trillions plying the American people with futile pharmaceuticals and tax breaks or fight unnecessary wars; and resume backing worthy projects. For a start, begin adequately funding NASA. Can America afford to allow the Europeans or Chinese to finally plant an actual flag on the lunar surface?? Have we lost all our pride?. Have we hit the pit of the rock bottom??.
I hope not...Let us draw up a SERIOUS 11 year plan. Let us land on the moon in the fall of 2020!
If indeed time has determined our waning to begin, then let this be the great American achievement. Lets go out with a bang. Lets show the world one last time,HOW IT IS DONE.
