Sony Announces VAIO W Netbook
After not too long ago writing off netbooks as a "race to the bottom," Sony is calling the kettle black and introducing the VAIO W -- the first device the manufacturer is calling an Internet Notebook (i.e. netbook). Here's hoping this new ultra-portable (10-inch screen, 1.6-gigahertz Atom processor) has the build quality of the smaller VAIO P, but not the high price tag.
Sega Toys' New Electro-Kitty
Sega Toys has a new digital kitten -- called the Dream Cat Venus -- that uses forehead and body-touch sensors to provide you with the most accurate feline simulation achievable by science. Oh, and it does voice-recognition and purrs when it hears words that it likes.
Sprint/Best Buy's $0.99 Netbook (Strings Attached)
We knew it was coming, eventually. Best Buy and Sprint are now offering a subsidized netbook for $0.99. It's not all roses and sugar crumbs, of course; the Compaq-branded HP Mini 110c comes tethered to a two-year data contract that'll end up costing you $1,440 in the long run.
Trace of Time Dry-Erase Clock
Korean product designer Il-Gu Cha's Trace of Time dry-erase clock lets you add your own deadlines to its face. As those deadlines come and go, the clock wipes them away with its eraser minute hand. Watch the video here, and be sad you don't own one.
New Design For 'Guitar Hero 5' Drum Set?
According to a mysterious source, the 'Guitar Hero' drum-set peripheral may be getting a redesign for the release of 'Guitar Hero 5.' Judging by the blurred image of the supposedly new hardware, this kit looks a lot more like the 'Rock Band' drum set with its smaller body, rounded cymbals, and control buttons moved closer to the player.
