Truck Plus Jet Engine Equals Fastest Pickup Truck Ever
For those in the firm grip of a midlife crisis but unable to forego the practical requirements of hauling stuff around town, there is perhaps no better way to satiate your need for speed than a fast pickup truck. And when we say fast, we mean 2700 HP fast.
Just ask Chris Lentz, who strapped an M-701 turbojet to his Ford F-150 pickup to create such a monster for himself.
The jet engine, which retails for about $10,000 and is powered by a 20-gallon kerosene tank, only achieves its 2700 HP max when it hits speeds of 516mph, which we don't see happening anywhere in Michigan anytime soon.
We're still not entirely clear on Mr. Lentz's motives. A commentary on the potential of the declining American auto industry, in its home state? Or perhaps simply, as he says in the video, because it's something he's wanted to do since he was a kid.
Either way, it looks fast. [From: DVICE]
