Morning Xtra: Flickr Opens to Twitter, MacBooks for Maine Students

Maine Students Get MacBooks

Flickr Opens to Twitter
Flickr, star of the early Web 2.0 days, has finally added Twitter functionality. 1 in 4 Adults Own Video Game Consoles
If you're still embarrassed that your significant other spends their free evenings playing 'Super Mario Galaxy,' don't be. The blogosphere is down with video games, as well; this year's E3 conference generated 30-percent more blog traffic than last year. [From: CNet]

Joost Dropping Its Consumer Biz, Thank You YouTube, Hulu
Kazaa and Skype are largely the work of duo Ziklas Zennstrom and Junus Friis, but even this legendary duo couldn't fend off big Hollywood (Hulu) and Google (YouTube) in the world of Web video. Their streaming-video site Joost is shutting down its consumer-video service and will instead focus on providing video platforms for cable providers. [From: CNet]

Is 'Tweet' Trademarked?
Apparently, Twitter considers "tweet" to be a trademark and is now "uncomfortable" with third-party developers using the word in their apps. Looks like tough luck for Tweetie, TweetDeck, TweetBoard, and other apps and sites that use the word in their brand names. [From: TechCrunch]
