What Are the Most Popular Names on Facebook?
With 200 million profiles revealing personal data about sex, religion, political views, and marital status, Facebook is a social scientist's dream. If that personal information is gold, Facebook is rich with it, and not all of it's protected by privacy settings, either.Rapleaf, a Web search solutions provider, searched over 100 million public profiles to find the most common names on Facebook, tallying up the most popular first names, last names, and finally full names.
Only one female name shows up on the list; 'Maria' at number ten. Unsurprisingly, the most common first name is 'John,' with over a million found profiles, 'David' and 'Michael' coming in at second and third, respectively. 'Mike' is apparently the fifth most popular, though, so if nicknames weren't counted as unique, 'Michael' would be number one.
The most popular last name is 'Smith,' winning by a wide margin at over one million profiles, while 'Jones' is second with half a million. Third through sixth places host other popular Anglo names like 'Johnson' and 'Brown,' as well as 'Lee,' a name common to several cultures. The last four spots are frequently spotted Spanish-language names like 'Lopez' and 'Rodriguez.'
Full names -- meaning first and last combos -- include a staggering eight 'Smith' surnames in the top ten, 15 in the top 20. 'Juan Carlos' and 'Mike Jones' are the only non-'Smith' names to make it to the top tier.
Budding sociologists can see how names stack up by downloading the complete 'Most Common First, Last, and Full Names on Facebook' from Rapleaf directly. [From: Rapleaf, via TechCrunch]

You should do a story on how Facebook is punishing users for what they are calling abuse of posting!! This is not a joke, it's happened to me and plenty of others I found out while trying to search effortlessly to report this stupid rule to someone somewhere on the social site. Apparently if you post on this social network "too much" then you are warned not to post for at least 48 hours or ELSE! Are you kidding me? Isn't that what we are encouraged to do, it's a social site right?? Right! The or else is that is you continue to post, and we're talking normal posting, innocent, every-day hi how ya doing or whatever on someone's wall....the ultimate punishment is to TERMINATE YOUR ACCOUNT!
People have waited as long or longer than 15 days to be allowed to post or use their Facebook account, this is ridiculous! And what's more ridiculous is there's no easy way to report this or anything that goes wrong or doesn't work on Facebook.
No one cares about the statistics of names on Facebook but let's get to the root of why fb is being such an ass!

Hah they just did this to me today!!! On my birthday Of all days!!! Wtg facebook! All I was merley doing was Replying to the 50+ friends that had kindly wished me a happy Birthday... and I was replying to them saying thankyou for the Bday wishes one at a time and BAM!!!! YOU CANNOT POST ANYMORE because you are mis-using!! Well Done facebook! ....For posting thank-you for the b day wishes, no wonder this world, is forgetting the word thank-you, you can't even thank someone without being punished! RIDICULOUS!

Well here I sit..two days after I had the nerve to do the same thing that Karin did..I said thank you to most of the people who sent me bday wishes..Next thing I know..I receive a pop up that says..youve been warned..which I wasnt..and now you cant post replies..I mean what gives? If I had been warned, do you think I would have continued to thank people one by one for their good wishes?? Who knew there was a cap on posting replies of gratitude? I didnt and almost feel that in the spirit of socialization that this is a breach of the facebook mission statement..The sad part is, you have no recourse..You cant write to anyone and say..sorry..it was my birthday and I just didnt know..they have you at some arbitrary computer's mercy..this is very sad facebook, very sad.. :(

I saw somewhere on FB user agreement that if you post "too much" they will "suspend" your acct this is because they want to ensure you aren't a "spammer" but I would think with all of the technology today there would be a better system in place for such a widely used and popular network site.
As far as all the other posts....I like them they're funny :)
