The Ugliest and Weirdest Cell Phones

With mobile devices like the iPhone and Palm Pre continually raising the cool-design bar, it's easy to forget that there's a lot of junk out there. PC World recently put together a list of the ugliest and lamest designs to ever access a cell tower. The list accumulates the weird, bulky, outrageous, awkward, and just plain unusable failures that make cell phone recycling programs crucial.

The Siemens Xelibri looks more like a piece of medical equipment than something to talk on, and Sony Ericsson's W350 -- despite its slim design -- has about as much durability as a piece of paper. Some phones not only fell short of looking good (like the Samsung P300), but were just plain hard to use: Take the Bang & Olfusen Serene, for example, which displays its keypad like a rotary phone but lacks any rotary function. The list doesn't end there, and we've added a few submissions of our own after the break.

1. Samsung SGH-F210
This slim phone, similar to the Nokia 7380, is just too thin to use. Though the SGH-F210 slides open to reveal a number pad, both the Samsung and Nokia are operated primarily using an iPod-style click wheel -- which reminds us of a certain Onion News parody. [From Gizmodo]

2. Imaginarium Mo1
Designed for kids aged six to 12, the Imaginarium Mo1 looks more like a cell phone for toddlers. So its not quite ideal for a fifth grader with a smiley-faced button wearing a bow that screams, "Mom." [From Gizmodo]

3. Nokia Prism Collection

Designed to appeal to the fashion-conscious user in need of one more 'diamond-cut' accessory, the Prism 7500 and 7900 featured light-refracting screens, displays that showed 16-million colors, and wallpaper that changed throughout the day. On the north side of $300, these phones are too pricey for something that couldn't be called a smart phone with a straight face. Might as well invest in something encrusted in real diamonds and get the Vertu. [From CNET]
