'Brushes' iPhone App: Fingerpainting Without the Mess
Are you a clean-freak, on-the-move, not-entirely-struggling artist? If so, 'Brushes,' a new art application for the iPhone, could be for you. Eliminating the need for cumbersome (and messy) brushes, paint tubes, pencils, sketchbooks, and other supplies, the app allows aspiring iArtists to create miniature oeuvres with the tips of their fingers. According to The Daily Mail, many digital artists are using 'Brushes,' which costs $4.99 at the App Store, to create detailed works of art while riding the subway to work or waiting in the lobby at the dentist's office. It's not just MS Paint in mobile form, either; one 'Brushes' devotee, Jorge Colombo, found his work on the cover of 'The New Yorker.'
You can begin working from a blank canvas or an existing photograph. The application features several different brush-stroke sizes (from slim and fine to rough and wide), high-powered zoom capabilities, and a plethora of color and saturation options.
Some artists, such as Matthew Watkins of Italy, told The Daily Mail they plan on selling and exhibiting their creations. Watkins also said he liked the ability to create art in a matter of minutes, while still being able to spend hours refining a piece. Wisconsin native Susan Murtaugh already sells prints of her iPhone art, which you can view here.
Will iPainting turn out to be a fad or a significant step for the digital art revolution, or just a fad? Revolutionary, for sure. But then, we said that about the Bedazzler, too.

I don't think that finger painting on your iphone and now ipad is a fad! its not going to replace traditional painting but just have a look at the hundreds of paintings created online using all sorts of apps - Brushes, Artist's Touch etc...
Artist's Touch is another great app that allows the user to paint their photos into a digital work of art. It's really quite amazing and addicting! The app has just been approved for the iPad and to celebrate they are giving away 2 FREE Apple iPads just visit http://artamata.com for the details on how to enter!
You can see the artwork created by Artist's Touch users at Artist's Touch Creations - http://bit.ly/aZq4K6
