Most Cursed Video-Game Cover Athletes 10

The game: 'FIFA World Cup: Germany 2006'
The athlete(s): Claudio Reyna and the U.S. Men's Soccer Team.
The promise: With the sport's popularity growing around the country, the U.S. men's soccer team won its qualification tournament leading up to the World Cup. There was talk and hope that this could be America's chance to make a deep run in the world's most popular sporting event.
The letdown: The U.S.A. was placed in a group with three top-10 ranked teams--Italy, Ghana and the Czech Republic. The team won only a single match and failed to advance out of the first round. Like soccer, this video game also failed to catch on stateside.
Where are they now? The team is gearing up for another run at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Bust-O-Meter rating: 7 out of 10
CORRECTION: When we posted this story, we mistakenly put up an image featuring Frank Lambert of England's national team. Being an internationally popular game, the 'FIFA World Cup' franchise releases its games with covers targeted towards specific countries. Although the Frank Lambert graphic is in fact the cover of 'FIFA World Cup: Germany 2006,' it is the cover for the U.K. release, not of the U.S. release, which is what we've now correctly posted. Thank you for your constructive comments to that end. - Switched

Ghana and Czech Republic are not top 10 ranked teams as far as soccer is concerned.

This article has 2 screw-ups:
1. U.S. didn't win any games in the World Cup, not the one that the article says (tied Italy 1-1, the U.S.'s goal was of the own-goal variety).
2. Frank Lambert=Frank Lampard

Eric, first of all, thank you for saying what I was going to say. Second, Italy is obviously top ten and so is the Czech Republic (I think they're around 8th right now, but they were as high as 3rd earlier in 2006). Finally, Ghana has never been anywhere near the top ten. They're a pretty good team, but they aren't even in the top 40 right now. Also, Lambert? Really? How hard is it to actually look up the name of one of the 10 most famous players in the world.
