12 Most Cursed Video-Game Cover Athletes

Throughout the history of sports, both college and professional, there are countless stories about promising players who did not live up to the hype. Some, we could see coming from a mile away. Others, we thought were surely "can't miss" superstars in the making.

Many of these infamous athletes have graced the covers of popular video game franchises, too. Which begs the question, is there some virtual voodoo working here?

We all know about the "Madden Curse." But after some snooping, we discovered this trend is not limited to a single game franchise, or a single sport. We compiled this list of athletes who showed great promise, only to bust faster than a water balloon on a bed of nails.
