Microsoft Pulling the Plug on 'Money'

The personal finance program, which has been available online since last year, will be taken off the market at the end of June, CNET News reported yesterday. Microsoft will continue to support it through January of 2011. Then, automated feeds from banks and credit card companies will no longer be available via 'Money.'
While 'Microsoft Money' has enjoyed some success, the app consistently trailed 'Quicken' in the race for market dominance. It has been facing new pressure, too, as Web-based financial programs, like 'Mint' and Intuit's 'Quicken Online,' have become increasingly popular.
Hopefully, a perk of Microsoft cutting off these products will be a renewed focus on its core business -- Windows and 'Office.' [From: CNET]

Money was nice, but it no longer fit everyone's needs. I switched to MVelopes years ago and never looked back, and I'm sure there's a lot of others who went other places. This is one of the cases where Microsoft shouldn't have entered a market they really didn't need to be in.

I agree, MS need to focus on their core products. Money was a good program, but it never caught on compared to things like Quicken. They've tried making it part of Office with Accounting, but I dont think it will be as successful as QuickBooks or Sage.
