I've been seeing a little British guy in front of a British flag asking if you would like to test your English level for free. The ad is through Google Adsense and is showing up on nearly every (if not every) English teaching web site that runs Adsense - http://www.theselva.com/ads-requesting-your-phone-number/
The ad claims to be free but it's anything but free, it's a subscription. In addition to the subscription which I don't even know how much it is the fine print states that you'll be charged 0.99 euros per SMS.
Anyway, my point is that no matter which ad wants your phone number DON'T give it to them even if you think it's legit. They are scammers and purposely making you think it's ligit.
@ethan, too bad we all aren't that clever. These ads are mainly directed to teenagers who aren't as fraud savy.
